Mobile Grooming for Senior Dogs in Orlando
If your older dog can no longer handle a grooming salon, a mobile groomer is often the simplest answer. Oh My Boss Mobile Grooming grooms senior dogs at home in Orlando and more than 20 nearby cities in Central Florida, in a van parked at your door. No car ride, no crate, and no afternoon of waiting.
When is a dog considered a senior?
There is no single age. The American Animal Hospital Association describes the senior stage as "the last 25% of estimated lifespan through end of life" in its Senior Care Guidelines. Because big breeds live shorter lives than small ones, a Great Dane gets there years before a Chihuahua. Most owners notice it before they could name a number. The dog is slower on the stairs, sleeps more, or has started to dread the groomer.
Why is the salon so hard on an older dog?
A salon day asks a lot of a stiff, tired body. Getting into and out of the car, standing on a table, then waiting in a kennel between the bath and the dryer, in a room full of other dogs. For a young dog that is annoying. For a fourteen year old dog with sore hips it is exhausting.
How do you groom a senior dog in the van?
One groomer works with your dog from start to finish, with no other animals in the van. We work around age as much as coat and temperament, and if your dog needs a break, he gets one. Before the appointment, tell us what the groomer should know: stiff joints, a sore hip, poor hearing or eyesight, a spot he does not like touched. That lets her adapt the groom to your dog instead of the other way around.
What if my dog gets tired or uncomfortable?
We never force a dog. If the groom cannot be finished safely, we stop, bring him back to you, and you are not charged. For many older dogs a lighter service is kinder than a full restyle, and a hygienic trim keeps the face, paws and sanitary area tidy without a long session.
Can you groom a dog with health problems?
We groom old dogs, but not sick ones. If your dog is unwell, recovering from surgery, or has a new lump, sore or skin problem, talk to your vet before booking. A groomer can keep an older dog clean and comfortable, but grooming is never a substitute for a vet check.
Can I stay with my dog?
Yes. You are right there at home, and some older dogs relax just knowing their person is a few steps away. If your dog is also nervous, our page on stress-free grooming explains how we handle anxious dogs.
How much does it cost to groom a senior dog?
